The landscape was getting greener. We went to the Hubbell Trading Post in Ganado AZ, a national historic site. We watched a woman weaving a rug. It takes her 5 months to finish it. The Trading Post had rugs, silver, baskets, etc. But it did not feel like a tourist trap. It was genuine, showing diverse artisan talent.
Driving on we got on interstate 40 (which was the first time in 10 days we were on a big highway. More big rig trucks.) We left the reservation and drove to see the Painted Desert. There were 5 or 6 overlooks. Amazing. Wide area of multi colored sand and rocks on the mountains- showing 225 million years of geological formations.
The photos are a bit out of order but we're too tired to fix it. Enjoy. We did.
