Enchanted By New Mexico

Sunny day, 60 degrees. Wind has calmed down. Last night at the Big Texan restaurant we met a couple from Falmouth MA! We ate dinner with a couple we met at the campground, from Topeka Kansas, John and Phyllis. The restaurant sent a limo to get us. The Bid Texan was big- filled with cowhide tablecloths, cowboy waiters, wandering country western singers, mounted elk heads, the world's biggest steak challenge. If you could eat a 72oz steak in an hour, (that included rolls, salad, beans and 3 shrimp!),you would get it free. Two men tried while we were there and failed. It cost them $72 each.
The drive today shows more really wide open spaces, ( you can see smoke 30 miles away) sagebrush, mesas, dry wash, tons of cattle in a Feed Lot, no trees to speak of, red dirt, more mountains.more windmills (cities of them) We crossed into our 11th state- New Mexico!
